MALCOM MULENGA IS DIG IN- CHARGE OF OPERATIONS

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has appointed Luapula ProvinceMR MULENGA Commissioner of Police, Mr. Malcom Mulenga as second Deputy Inspector General of police, barely a fortnight ago when he appointed Mr. Kakoma Kanganja as Deputy Inspector General of Police.

This is a historical appointment as it is the first time in the history of the Zambia Police to have two Deputy Inspector Generals of Police, both reporting to the Inspector General of Police.

This entails that the Zambia Police now has two Deputy Inspector Generals of Police, Mr Kanganja, in charge of Police Administration and Mr. Mulenga in- charge of Police Operations.

This is according to a statement released by State House Presidential Aid for Press and Public Relations, Amos Chanda, who further stated that President Lungu has also renewed the contract of the Inspector General of Police, Ms Stella Libongani for three years.


 

Upon assuming power, President Lungu has made reshuffles in the police, sending former Deputy Inspector General, Dr. Solomon Jere into foreign mission and replaced him with Mr. Kanganja.

Others he appointed as Commissioners of Police are Mr. Auxensio Daka for Muchinga Province, Mr. Chewe as Northern Province Commissioner.

He retired Lusaka Province Commissioner, Mr. Lemmy Kajoba and sent Commissioner- in- Charge of Operations, Mr. Fanwell Siandenge on leave pending the expiry of his contract on 15th February 2015.

President Lungu has also appointed Eastern Province Deputy Commissioner, Mr Hudson Namachila as Luapula Province PoliceCol. Panji and Col. Chanda Commissioner. Meanwhile, the President further appointed Col. Panji Kaunda and Col. Gerry Chanda as Home Affairs Deputy Ministers
