GOVT GAZETTES POLICE DAY

By Timothy Malumo

Police officers in Zambia yesterday converged in their respective provinces to commemorate the first ever Police Day, which has since been gazetted and will be an annual event every 4th March.

And in Lusaka, Lilayi Police College was a hive of activity as it was the venue for the event in Lusaka, where over 2000 police officers  were honoured with E2medals in Long service, Bravery and Meritorious by Home Affairs Minister, Mr Davies Mwila who graced the occasion.

In addressing the officers, Home Affairs Minister, Mr Mwila urged police officers to reflect on the many issues that affected policing in the country.

The minister said the police needed to work towards achieving substantial reduction in crime and road fatalities.

“As you celebrate this Day, you need to reflect on addressing increasing complaints of unprofessional conduct and corruption especially during traffic operations,” Mr Mwila said.
