STATEMENT ON THE ARREST OF TWO PEOPLE MASQUERADING   AS NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR CONSTRUCTION (NCC) AGENTS

Police in Lusaka have arrested two people in connection with forging of National Council for Construction (NCC) Certificates and Receipts which they issued to unsuspecting clients claiming that they were NCC agents when infact not.

The suspects have been identified as Zulu Chilito of Leopards Hill road and Samuel Sampa of John Laing Compound, a graphics designer employed in one of the Internet Cafés in Lusaka.

The suspects were found with an 8GB flash disc which had two hidden files which could only be opened using a Computer Forensic Software which further revealed that it had 8 folders and 875 files containing soft copies of various documents which they were manufacturing and selling to unsuspecting members of the public claiming that they were Agents.

The soft copies included Passports, National Registration Cards, Driving Licenses, School Leaving Certificates and Statement of Results. Others were Pay slips, Land Titles, Site plans, Visas, Bank letterhead logos and introductory letters as well as Receipts. The duo was also found with soft copies of date stamps and signatures belonging to different organizations and individuals which they were pasting on the documents.

We would like to appeal to members of the public who could have transacted with the two suspects to report to police headquarters so as to help with investigations.

We would also like to warn members of the public in the habit of using agents to make sure that the documents issued to them are authentic before submitting them where they are required.

Investigations into the matter are on-going and the suspects will appear in court soon.
