INSPECTOR General of Police, Ms Stella Libongani has implored police officers to vigorously fight crime.

 Ms Libongani said dedication to duty and being courageous during the course of duty is the cornerstone of fighting crime.

The Police chief was speaking at Police Headquarters when she congratulated Desper Mutinta by promoting him from Constable to the rank of Sergeant for bravery and courageous.

The officer who is based Lilayi Paramilitary Battalion recently gunned down two criminals at Lusaka’s Twin Palm shopping mall on Monday when they staged a day light robbery. However, two of the robbers managed to escape with more than K300,000.

Ms Libongani described the incident as a rear one and called on officers to emulate the courage that the officer had exhibited.

“The officer acted in a courageous manner and deserves to be commended. If we put cowardice ahead, we shall fell to fight crime,” she said.

Ms Libongani urged officers to emulate him in the quest of fulfilling the core duty of protecting life and property.
