We would like to state that the number of bodies discovered yesterday, 1st August, 2016 in an unfinished house in Chalala of Lusaka is six and not the earlier reported Five.

The deceased have been identified as Albert Mwanza whose head was chopped off and found completely smashed in a dish, a female Juvenile Martha Mwanza aged 7, female juvenile Leo Mwanza aged 4, female juvenile Blessing Mwanza aged nine months all children of late Albert Mwanza, male juvenile Brian Banda aged 12 and Amos Banda who age is not yet known.

We picked up three suspects identified as Jenipher Mwansa who is the wife of deceased Albert Mwanza, Susan Chinfwembe and a female juvenile aged 15 years.

Two survivors a Female juvenile aged 10 and a male juvenile aged eight were found tied and confined in the same room with the deceased persons bodies. They have since been picked by relatives.

The bodies were buried after conducting an Autopsy yesterday.


Meanwhile, a total of 224 Road Traffic Accidents were recorded throughout the country from 31st July, 2016 to 2nd August, 2016 during the Farmers Holiday period where 12 people died as compared to 218 accidents recorded last year with 28 deaths. This represents an increase of six (06) accidents but with a decrease in the number of deaths by 16 representing a 57% reduction in the number of fatalities this year.

During this year’s farmers day holiday, 12 fatal accidents were recorded in which 12 persons died, 26 were serious accidents with 42 people sustaining serious injuries while 73 persons sustained minor injuries in 56 accidents. 130 accidents were damages only, where no person was injured.

Lusaka Province recorded 105 accidents of which five (05) were fatal accidents with five (05) people killed, seven (07) serious accidents , 18 slight accidents and 75 damage accidents only.

Copperbelt Province recorded second highest number of accidents with 27 accidents without any death recorded. Central Province recorded 24 accidents with one death, Southern Province had 12 accidents with no death, Eastern Province had 25 accidents with no death,Western Province had six accidents with not death while Northern Provinces recorded five (05) accidents with one death.

Luapula recorded nine accidents with one death, North Western recorded nine accidents with two deaths and Muchinga had two accidents with two deaths.
