Events

LUSAKA – 07TH December, 2016 -Police in Mporokoso have arrested a man identified as  Clement Chitalu aged 20 years of Kape Village in Chief Mumporokoso of Mporokoso District for allegedly hacking to death his sister identified as Grace Chisanga aged 38 after he  attempted to steal bags of maize from the deceased’s house.

The suspect is also reported to have hacked the daughter of the deceased identified as Precious Bwalya aged 19 after she tried to rescue her mother from the assailant.

This occurred on 6th December, 2016 at around 1400 hours at Kape village. The deceased sustained multiple deep cuts on the head and neck. A metal bar and an axe are alleged to have been used in the act.

Brief facts of the matter are that on the fateful date, a named female juvenile aged 11 was sent by her parents to go and get a bicycle from the deceased’s house and when she  reached there, she heard someone calling for help from inside the house.

The female juvenile then informed other members of the village who forced the door open as it was found locked and found the two victims lying in a pool of blood and that Grace Chisanga had already died while Precious Bwalya aged 19 of the above given address was still alive.

It was reported that the suspect Clement Chitalu, wanted to steal some bags of maize from his sister’s home who is now the deceased, and when the deceased tried to restrain him, he hacked her with an axe three times on the head sustaining deep cuts and died on the spot.

The suspect also attacked Precious Bwalya who is the daughter of the deceased as she tried to rescue her mother. She  also sustained cuts on the head, neck and arm and is currently admitted to Mporokoso District Hospital where she is receiving treatment.

An axe and a metal bar used in the act were recovered from the scene, the body of the deceased is lying in Mporokoso Hospital mortuary while the suspect in detained in police custody charged with Murder  and Attempted Murder and  will appear in court soon.
