LUSAKA, 03RD SEPTEMBER, 2019 - Four people among them two juveniles drowned on Luapula River on 02nd September, 2019 at about 16 00 hours after the canoe on which they were capsized.
The victims have been identified as Patricia Mandela aged 23, female juvenile Mwansa Safeli aged four, Male juvenile Mwape Safeli aged three and a female adult identified as Maria Peter aged 25 all of Ndeni Village, Chief Sokontwe of Milenge District.
The incident is reported to have happened when the victims were crossing the river from Milenge to a fishing camp in Congo DRC. Initial It is suspected that the canoe capsized due to overloading. All the bodies have been retrieved.
In another development, a male juvenile aged two years died after he was involved in a road traffic accident which occurred on 02nd September, 2019 around 17 00 hours at Msuzi area near Msuzi Secondary School on Lundazi – Chipata road after he was hit by a Motor bike .
The victim has been identified as Ganizani Nyirenda of Msuzi area, Chief Mphamba of Lundazi District.
The accident happened when the rider of the motor bike lost control of the motor bike due to inexperience and went to hit the pedestrian who was off the road. The body is in Lundazi District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
