ZAMBIA POLICE OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT

 

Operations Department is a Directorate in the Zambia Police Service and is headed by the Commissioner of Police. It is responsible for the entire Zambia Police operations and comprises of the following Units at service headquarters;

1. Traffic
2. Community Services Division
3. Mounted Section  
4. Marine and
5. Diplomatic Security Services Unit

 

It is also responsible for the operations of all Police Combat Units, namely; Mobile Unit, Paramilitary, Protective Unit, Tazara and Airports Division. It is worth noting that Airports Division is comprised of both General Duties officers and combatants.

FUNCTIONS

Its main function amongst others is to provide logistical and physical (manpower) support to Provincial Police Commissioners in Divisions.

It is also responsible for general welfare of officers sent on operation duties and oversees all issues of security unrest in the country.
