ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

Provincial Commissioner

Luapula Division is wholly responsible for the security of the province. The provincial Police commissioner is the head of the administration system of all the police objectives of preserving peace, detect crime, apprehend offenders, prosecute offenders and manage traffic.

Under the office of the Provincial commissioner are branches which help in the running of the division. All sectional heads at divisional level and Officers-in-Charge of stations are answerable to the Provincial Police Commissioner. The police commissioner ensures good discipline prevails among officers within the division.

Deputy Police Commissioner

The office of the Deputy Commissioner is responsible for the welfare of officers and operations in the division. When the Provincial Police Commissioner is out of the Division, the deputy Police commissioner assumes the Provincial Police commissioner’s role.

Human Resource Management

This office was previously known as Divisional Staff office. It is responsible for the effective administration of the police in the division and also looks at the general welfare of police officers.

Divisional Criminal Investigations Office

This office is headed by the Divisional Criminal Investigations officer (DCIO). This section coordinates all the Criminal Investigations sections in the division. All Criminal Investigations officers, (officers in charge of investigations in stations) have the responsibility to report all matters involving crime in the district to the Divisional Criminal Investigations officer without delay. The Divisional Criminal Investigations officer later communicates such information to the Provincial Police Commissioner.

Divisionl Traffic Officer (DTO)

This office is responsible for all matters relating to traffic management. The Divisional traffic officer reports all cases involving traffic accidents to the Provincial Police Commissioner at once.

Operations

This office is responsible for all operational duties in the division. It ensures that measures are put in place such as patrols and special operations to curb and reduce crime in the division. It also ensures that vital installations and government institutions are well guarded.
