EASTERN DIVISION
Eastern Division is located in the eastern part of the Republic of Zambia. It shares International borders with Malawi in the east and Mozambique in the south. It also shares provincial boundaries with Central, Muchinga and Lusaka Provinces.
Districts
The division comprises two (2) police districts which are Chipata and Lundazi. The Districts are run by Officers Commanding districts (OC) who report to the office of Provincial Commissioner.
Police Stations
Eastern Division has eight (8) police stations. These police stations are headed by Officers-in-Charge. The division also has 36 police posts. (A police post is the most important structure of the Zambia Police as it is the first contact point between police and members of the public. It is found at the grassroots, mostly within communities and business centres).
PROVINCIAL ADMINISTRATION
Commissioner of Police
The division is headed by a Police Commissioner. This is an officer who oversees the running of the entire police in the division/province. The Provincial Commissioner communicates all matters related to police to the office of the Inspector General of Police. The Provincial Commissioner is deputised by the Deputy Commissioner who holds the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police.
