A newsroom is an office which falls under the Public Relations office headed by the Editor. The office has journalists, photographers and video producers who are police officers.

These journalists gather news to be published in the Police News Magazine. The publication of the in-house magazine is beneficial to the institution as it communicates organisational goals, operations, aspirations and objectives to both the internal and external publics. The publication outlines internal and external objectives that an organisation stands for in terms of quality assurance (quality service), corporate social responsibility, and staff welfare among other things.

The publication also acts as a public relations tool for the institutionin an effort to reduce the gap between police and its publics. This publication was introduced with intent to influence or create own institutional media through which policy can be communicated to the public as well as members of the Police.

The unit also manages periodical productionsthrough video production and leaflets such as brochures on police programs and operations to be broadcast through the media as a way of informing the public on police operations.

The unit also collects government revenue through authentication of documents for clients.

The Unit Supports all programmes as designed by the Public Relations Office and as assigned by command. In other ways, it is an operative of the public relations office.
