The President also directed the Inspector General of Police to recruit new Reserve Officers emphasizing that intensified screening should be conducted to ensure that no criminal is recruited in the service.

During the same official opening, Minister of Home Affairs, Honorable Davies Mwila said Government will soon recruit 3,500 officers and that the recruitment will be done in phases.

The Minister urged Police Officers to remain focused and uphold professionalism in their duties so that the good image of the service can be maintained.

Speaking earlier, Inspector General of Police, Ms Stella Libongani highlighted challenges which the police were faced with among them lack of decent infrastructure.

Ms Libongani who thanked government for the two police buildings which came at the same time, assured the president that police will ensure that the buildings are well taken care of.

She further urged officers to uphold human rights and to be servants of the members of their communities.

Also present were Government officials from various ministries and senior Police officers.
