LUSAKA, 11th October, 2016 - Police in Solwezi have arrested Peter Kamatongo and Elizabeth Nyambi both of Wisdom Compound for allegedly having murdered Alfred Mulundano aged 35 of Katwamba village, Chief Kasemba of Kasempa District.

It is alleged that between 8th October around 15:00 hours and 10th October, 2016 around 13:30 hours, the duo allegedly assaulted the deceased using kicks and a bamboo stick and he  sustained injuries. He was rushed to Solwezi General Hospital the same day where he was admitted and later died on the 10th October, 2016 around 13:30 hours. The suspects have been charged for murder and will appear in court soon. The body of the deceased is in Solwezi General Hospital mortuary.

In a similar development, in Luapula Province, Police have arrested a man identified as Levy Mwewa for allegedly having attacked and attempted to kill his father Joseph Mumba aged 54 of Mpunduka Village in Mansa after he set ablaze the house in which the victim was sleeping. The victim sustained burns on both shoulders. Reasons for the suspect’s action is not yet established. The suspect is in Police custody and will appear in court soon.

Meanwhile, Police in Lusaka retrieved a body of a male person aged between 20 and 25 which was found floating on Ngwenya Dam by members of the public on 10th October, 2016 around 09:20 hours.

The body was found with a swollen face and was bleeding from the nose. The victim is believed to have been murdered by unknown people and later thrown into the dam. The deceased was putting on a black and white T-shirt and blue jean trousers. Investigations into a matter have been instituted.

We are appealing to members of the public who could be missing a relative to visit University Teaching Hospital Mortuary where the body was deposited awaiting identification and postmortem.
